5 indoor activities that are bringing me joy

We’re living in very strange times. It can be easy to feel bogged down by the weight of it all. Finding joy in the little things has been a great way for me to stay positive.

Here are 5 indoor activities that are bringing me joy and helping to pass the time as we shelter indoors:

Board games

I know puzzles are really making a come back recently, but hear me out - board games have gotten SO cool in the last few years. My partner and I hopped on the the board game bandwagon a few months ago and we’ve been having so much fun. Some of our favorites are Azul, Wingspan, and It’s a Wonderful World.

Baking bread

Baking seems to be an activity that a lot of people are trying right now (finding flour and yeast in the store can be a bit challenging!). But I’ve been loving having the opportunity to try new things I’ve never made before, like bagels and naan. This is a great time to experiment with new things!

Drinking cold brew coffee

About a year and a half ago, I gave up drinking coffee regularly. I didn’t swear it off entirely, just tried not to drink it every morning. Well that’s all been thrown out the window, and honestly? I’m loving it. I’ve busted out my old cold brew maker and almost always have some hanging out in the fridge. Having a cup of cold brew (with cream, not sugar) with breakfast every morning has been truly delightful.

Scrabble Go

Playing Scrabble online with family and friends has been fun, but also very challenging. Word games are not my strong suit (and my partner is stellar at them!), so it’s been a fun challenge to exercise that muscle. It’s also a fun way to stay connected to people throughout the day.

The Bon Appétit Youtube channel

Bon Appetit (the magazine) has a stellar Youtube channel with a hilarious and very talented cast of characters. One of my favorite series challenges one of their pastry chefs to re-create gourmet versions of classic snack foods (like Poptarts, Cheez-its, and Pizza Rolls). It’s endlessly entertaining.

So that’s what’s keeping me busy in my spare time. What’s bringing you joy these days?
